There are many compilers that run on windows 7.

Visual studio 2008 or the 2010 beta both work. Though with 2008 if you want the 64 bit compiler you must also download the platform SDK -- this will not "install" with the express version, but there are blogs on the net on how to do a manual install.


There is MinGW and MinGW64 both of which work. These don't come with an IDE so you will need to download one (some IDE's like Code::blocks come with the compiler).


I am sure there are others as well...
