The Borg would refuse to assimilate this kind of crappy technology. "You will be irrelevant in the new order." Loqutus of Borg.

Trolls have to eat too you know. lol Besides, the thread has its comedic value. Makes me smile everytime I read it.

The encryption was put in because I already had a search and replace option. So I just searched and replaced each of the 128 character set with another one. But if you really want to hide info. Put it at the end of a big text file. All the other search engines have a very low limit of file sizes that they index. (See post #54 on page 3)

Random is extremely handy if you have lots of video, music or pictures. And I do. For example I have over 200 clips of the first North American - European Hooded Crow. I love that bird. Just set the Swamp search to random and watch as a screen saver with hoodie as the search key. Same with my trapline videos. Probably 500+ of those from over a 2 year span. If you don't like random so much then why does every language have a random function? Why?

Swamp search is very portable from PC to PC and runs from a USB flash drive. Also I reload my OS 3 or 4 times a year to get rid of viruses and clean up my disk space. Therefore there was a need to keep my favorites along with the various passwords in a text file as well. So that ability was added. If "xxx.http:\" was found in the line after the match. Then everything after the xxx. was put into the clipboard for pasting into the browser. If "http:*" and not "\" was found then everything after the http: was put into the clipboard because it was either a password or a previously used search string or other text that I wanted retrieved.

Of course I did a few things in the code that I knew would enrage the perfect perfects to no end. I'm just getting even for all the years that these so called coding experts pissed me off. Getting even feels good even if you PP's weren't the culprits. For sure there are many other spaghetti coders out there that feel the same way. Just pray that none of you OOP's don't run into any legacy code because most of it is spaghetti code. Mmmm

Au contraire, sir. I absolutely adore Java's Random class and utilize it quite often, thank you very much!

Have you ever considered the possibility that we have actually created "spagetti code"? You know, BASIC was my first language, yet I prefer OOP because, guess what, I LIKE ORGANIZATION!!!!!!!

I am now taking bets on how long it takes until everyone realizes this is the biggest hoax on DIC.

You don't need OOP to organize code.

Dude...Raynes...we know...We just mean some form of organization, which MOST OF THE TIME, is OOP. That does not mean, in any way, that we don't think FP is not organized. In fact, many features of FP make it more structured than OOP. Just chill out.

False. gotos were considered bad form and were discouraged (at least in C) even in the early 70's

<Feed the troll again>

You know, if I ever encountered your spaghetti code, I'd rather rewrite the program in half the time it would take to try and fix what was obviously a bad design decision to begin with.

*edit*

I think you're the one that needs to chill out bro. I was just stating the obvious. Why does everybody assume I'm attacking OOP whenever I make an obvious statement? I didn't even mention FP in that post, and I certainly didn't get angry, so why am I already being told to chill out? :\

If you're a real programmer you should be able to make more flexible, faster, and more robust applications faster in C, Java, C++, C#, or whatever language you prefer, but NOT VB. What does that second letter stand for? Basic?

PLEASE argue that some larger corporations use VB for their enterprise level software. Guess what? Larger Corporations are looking for a cheap product, not a good product. IMO VB is a cheap gutting of program that is used by people who neither have the time, nor conviction to actually program, or people who want results fast and dirty.

Ok let's turn this into a flame war since it seems evident this is what you would like to do ..... WRONG (as long as you're referring to VB.NET, not VB6 *shudder*)

Tell you what. You write an operating system with VB. Then we'll talk.

You write one period, in any language then we'll talk :)

That will be fun ^^

If you want ill post some screen shots of the one i made :P

And i just looked at http://www.telusplan...edan/source.txt and all i have to say is omg wtf
