I had a Connect3D Radeon X700 PRO 256MB.....It died in a matter of months and never reached its full potential. Today I got a 6800XT and it works wonders! I'm getting a 60,000 in Aquamark3..My x700 couldn't even finish the benchmark.
What about you?

I've got a Radeon 7500 from about 4-5 years ago. It plays BZFlag and Enemy Territory just fine, and thats all I really need it for.

I've got a Radeon 9600Pro overclocked with radclock or what. Could even play Doom3 and Quake 4 at reasonable framerates after optimizing the source of some shaders... Anyway, lately I was only present at UT2K4 and it's more than enough for that.

I agree with Kram, I've been a nVidia fan for life, and I'll never buy an ATI again. I bought an all in wonder a while back and it was just a POS... The drivers were junk, support was horrid, just a bad experience.
Who cares if at times ATI's top card can beat nVidia's top card by a few frames or something... I hate how people do that, they judge the company's entire line of cards by how well the top 2 compete... just fuckin stupid.
Anyway, the point is; nVidia all the way.

I'm not sure about Windows things, but in Linux support nVidia clearly rules - well, I could still appreciate opensourced drivers, but I guess that's still not gonna happen for a while.

NVIDIA's top cards are normally cheaper by about $50 or more plus they have a longer life (from what I've heard) and they actually perform better then ATI's cards in the typical setting. Sure...You might be able to get your ATI card to beat and NVIDIA of the equal level if you OC the ATI by like 100mhz! lol!
And don't even start talking about crossfires...them things are jokes! The only thing ATI has the edge on NVIDIA is the high power workstation cards for CAD etc. I don't even know if NVIDIA has a line of cards for that area. Do they?

My first gfx card ever was a Nvidia, I can't remember what model it was, but I think I have the box somewhere.
Anyway, after maybe a year (I'm not sure) that capasitors blow because (I assume) some number cruncher thought getting cheap parts would be better. I've been an ATI man since.

But everyones Caps Blew in 2000 to 2003 they were all making shite products. Besides nVidia only makes the chipsets not the whole card.

I remember cutting off resistors near the video output from nvidia cards to improve visual quality in higher resolutions - Taiwanese manufacturers didn't really care about the specs, so the EMI filter were filtering out more than it was supposed to. Dunno if it still holds true, it was back in the days of the Geforce 3 or 4 series.
