Is it just me, or pages with a great numbers of post take really long to get in form? I mean, I see most of the images and text right away (except for the right sidebar), but the part of the page where the content appears shifts back and form, and it takes like 10 seconds before it comes to it's final shape. 10 seconds isn't the end of the world, but the shifting thing becomes very annoying for a speed surfer like myself.

I get pages within a second or 2, and that's with advertisements showing, without advertisements, the page loads even quicker (you can become a DIC++ member and not have to put up with ads )

Long pages can take longer when there are more posts, you can adjust how many posts appear here: http://forums.dreami...=UserCP&CODE=04

You may also think about turning off signatures/avatars as these may take longer because they are loaded from other people's servers sometimes.

Actually I wanted to ask it already, what's so bandwidth heavy in dic? I have to wait minutes(!) if I want to view it with modem from my grandma! Ok, I know I should disable pictures, and so on, but it's still noticable slower than some similar pages.

Lots of links, lots of tables... yeh, it's brutal on dialup. Hopefully in the relatively near future we can speed things up with new forum software and maybe a new design... will have to see how things go in that department.
