c.user, none of your screenshots do me any good without knowing what browser you're using and some of those I'd like to see URLs for as well as larger screen shots as it looks like bigger formatting issues than just overlaps.

It looks like the code tags aren't being parsed correctly, as all the code is being displayed on a single runon line. In addition, as of the upgrade, when I copy code from code tags on a post (without hitting reply, and even when the code tags were being displayed correctly) and go to paste it, it displays on a single-runon line.
Here is a link of the incorrect parsing for code tags:http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/showtopic153575.htm

It looks like I forgot to post my browser for the code tags error. I'm using IE 7 on 1280x800 resolution. Sorry for any inconvenience.

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script: chrome://browser/content/tabbrowser.xml:0
Browser: Firefox

Personally, I really like the new post rating system. It gives the possibility to show what reply was the most helpful in a specific thread. Someone doesn't like it - he votes it down. The fact that it is much easier to click the plus means that this will encourage more members to actually click it. I do think there is a voting quota per day, so that would limit those who want to vote something down for pure revenge.

I like the new voting system too, but i think it should be removed from the non programming forums as well.. or for the sake of our entertainment in the lounge, we can have the voting system to show the votes for every post but without actually affecting your reputation, reputations can only be affected by votes in the programming forums. I have one question though, what does the adding friends to your profile functionality have to offer us other than maybe finding their profiles quickly ?, are there more features that are going to be added soon to make full use of these friendships??.

That was my main concern with the new system. I'm relieved to hear there are some safeguards in place to prevent petty revenge. Otherwise, I do agree with you about the new system being easier to recognize helpful and unhelpful posts.

I'm still not very sure about the voting down thing..like if someone asked a question, and instead of helping them out directly, i post some links that i believe will help out the poster if he does his homework and read a little bit more..but he doesn't like that and he just wants me to hit him with the answer, so he decides that my post was unhelpful and votes me down, even though it would have been helpful to him if he actually took the time and checked out what I gave him..So actually i take what i said before back and i think the voting down should be removed..that way if the poster finds my post to be helpful then he can vote me up, and if he doesn't like my answer then he can just wait for another answer from another member.. just my opinion anyway

What if a member posts something that is completely irrelevant to the topic? Voting down will make others aware of a post that is not helping solve the problem. There are a couple of sites running a similar voting system, and I am not aware of any issues with people voting down things.
It's just the way it works. Like it - vote it up. Don't like it - vote it down.

The biggest problem I see is the ease with which you can vote a post up or down. If some one ticks you off by suggesting that you need to post code, there's really no way to stop you from voting down every post they make, every time you see one, and it takes little to no effort on your part. Same is true if they've done something that pleases you. Let's say you posted a request for code and they obliged while others told you to do your own home work. You could consistently vote down the others while voting up the person that gave you the free code!

well in "that" case its ok to vote down. what I'm afraid of, is retarded members abusing the system for not handing them code.. I've dealt with a lot of such members before around here at DIC..I think in these cases we can contact one of the staff members to take care of such a situation.

@CTphpnwb: There's nothing against co-workers watching out for each other. So if we see something like that happen to another member, we can simply vote up to counter-act it, like Dogstopper did for me when someone voted me down for reiterating the rules.

The only (minor) complaints I'd have with the new reputation system is that (1) it removes the fun and pleasure of suddenly having a popup because somebody thanked you, and (2) I don't think there is a way of tracking where the + and - are coming from. In the case of minuses, I imagine you'd want to find out which post is the "offending" one, but I haven't figured out a way of doing this.
