drop down menus

Posted 07 April 2006 - 02:10 PM

ok so im using this code to create drop down menus, i used it on another site and it work perfectly, now im trying to do it here and it is flipping out on me.

so in the head of the main page i have this
<script type="text/javascript">
function showmenu(elmnt)
{
document.getElementById(elmnt).style.visibility="visible"
}
function hidemenu(elmnt)
{
document.getElementById(elmnt).style.visibility="hidden"
}
</script>

which is suppose to make this work.
<table width="250" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
  <tr style="background-image:url(images/index_10-11.jpg)">
    <td valign="top"><a href="#" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Image1','','images/index_10_over.jpg',1)"><img src="images/index_10.jpg" name="Image1" width="123" height="46" border="0"></a><a href="#" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Image2','','images/index_06_over.jpg',1)"></a><br></td>
    <td width="123" onmouseover="showmenu('support')" onmouseout="hidemenu('support')"><a href="#" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Image6','','images/index_06_over.jpg',1)"><img src="images/index_06.jpg" name="Image6" width="123" height="46" border="0"></a><br>
<table width="120" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bordercolor="#000000" class="menu" id="support">
   <tr><td width="166"><a href="#" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Image7','','images/supportdd_01_over.jpg',1)"><img src="images/supportdd_01.jpg" name="Image7" width="166" height="22" border="0"></a></td>
   </tr>
   <tr><td width="166"><a href="#" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Image8','','images/supportdd_02_over.jpg',1)"><img src="images/supportdd_02.jpg" name="Image8" border="0"></a></td>
   </tr>
   <tr>
     <td width="166"><a href="#" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Image9','','images/supportdd_03_over.jpg',1)"><img src="images/supportdd_03.jpg" name="Image9" border="0"></a></td>
   </tr>
   </table></td>
    <td valign="top"><a href="#" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Image3','','images/index_07_over.jpg',1)"><img src="images/index_07.jpg" name="Image3" width="123" height="46" border="0"></a></td>
    <td valign="top"><a href="#" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Image4','','images/index_11_over.jpg',1)"><img src="images/index_11.jpg" name="Image4" width="123" height="46" border="0"></a></td>
    <td valign="top"><a href="#" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Image5','','images/index_12_over.jpg',1)"><img src="images/index_12.jpg" name="Image5" width="123" height="46" border="0"></a></td>
    <td valign="top"><img src="images/index_10-11.jpg" width="145" height="46"></td>
  </tr>
</table>

now im using DW8 to make my rollovers for 2 reasons. 1 im not sure exactly how to do rollovers, and 2 im lazy lol. but my problem is its that the table its suppose to hide well isnt, it comes up with the load of the page, and then if you mouse over it and then go off it disappears, also its muching my cells, the table isnt suppose to do that either, i cant show you the page thats messed up, but i can show you one that works that i did on an old testing server. www.ask4tech.net/sites/apg/ i compaired the code from both and they matched, i thought i was the roll overs, so i took them out, and it still does it. maybe you can tell me a better way to do this

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Try adding "display:none;" to the table's style attribute or class.

It isn't as complex (since i haven't had time to work on my domain since aquiring it a few days ago), but i have an example of a javascript drop down list at www.marvingohan.com, perhaps it may help :)
