Today's Server Issues

Posted 16 February 2010 - 03:28 PM

I wanted to apologize for all server issues recently, and especially today. I opened a trouble ticket with our server management folks to look in to the minor database errors we've had since we moved to the new server and in the process of "fixing" it, they actually pushed a config file that must have been designed for a very SMALL, LOW TRAFFIC server because it instantly killed the database, server, etc.

While they tried fixing this, the problems got worse. The database became corrupted because of the multiple restarts and bad config. And the web server had to be killed because it was killing the database server.

A new config has been loaded and seems to have resolved Today's issues, but yet to be seen if it resolves the other issues with the Driver errors and "MySQL Went Away" errors.

If you encounter any other problems like that, please post them here.

Again, sorry for the inconvenience.

I keep experiencing these database errors, including the homepage. Last time was about 15 minutes.
They are pain in the rectum.

Sounds like a live-action Hollywood series!

Alright, I made some more changes to the database server. Increased a bunch of limits and turned on some more settings.

Has anyone ever mentioned it's a BITCH to optimize a server running 800+ queries/second?! Cause it is!

Wherever I'm pinging out of right now <!--currently Lees Summit, MO? wtf?--> is on good terms with the server. :D

How many of us pipeline our way here? So much packet exchange can't be good for the server...

@skyhawk133 - Thanks for re-fixing their "fixes"!
