Asus Audio Troubles

Posted 17 April 2006 - 03:56 PM

Ever since I built my computer, the audio on my motherboard (Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe) has had some issues. For some reason, the front left speaker has never worked. Not only that, but there is no output from the left speaker of any set of headphones I plug in. The problem has recently progressed, however, so that neither of the front speakers work, and headphones don't work at all. I got around this by setting the system to 6.1 (I have 4.1) and plugging the front speakers into the center speaker port. It's very nice sound on Winamp or other media players, but programs that aren't set up for 6.1 sound, I get no sound from at all (i.e. Firefox and several games). I've tried updating drivers, with no luck. In addition, I don't think it's just the plug, because the onboard audio, front ports, and additional audio hardware plugged into the audio ports on the motherboard all have the same problem. Does this sound like a serious problem, or just something a few minor software changes could fix?

Im no experts, but I had a similar problem with my Asus, but never really got around to trying to fix it since I have SB Audigy 2 ZS.

But i remember reading somewhere that its a hardware problem, I doubt you'll be able to fix it, unless you get a new mobo. But it could just be a problem with windows/drivers.

Try formating before you resort to buying new hardware.
