It doesn't direct to the exact post, yet, but what "you would like" is there.

Erik...Going through my "thanks", I realized I have "-"'d a few posts unintentionally! Didn't mean that, and I'm glad it balanced. Sorry! With the new layout though, the scroll bar no longer is in the way.

I like being able to see who voted my posts up, and for which post :)

erik's here's all the votes you've received: http://www.dreaminco...ember_id=142959

That's what I was referring to :)

Doesn't really matter though.

edit: @Dogstopper I actually just saw that. I thought you hated me! :cry2:

I saw you've done that to me for a few posts. I'm glad to know it was an accident instead of intentional. :)

MentalFloss brings up a great point. As you mentioned this was to show a prestige among certain users who give quality answers, yet the source of up/down voting is unfiltered. However it wouldn't be fair to the members that like those forums to be left out on the new upgardes. I say you should leave the up/down vote, however it wouldn't actually contribute to your reputaion, possibly even rename the "Was This Post Helpful" to "Did you like this Post?". This way you can still squelch idiots and highlight good/funny posts, all the while keeping the high rep to those who are working to earn it.

just because it's not in those forums does not mean posts do not have merit or they have not 'earned' it (whatever that means), it just means it's something that belongs to a different content base. these updates are going to get tweaked as problems arise and patterns emerge, but removing this feature just because it falls under a category that interests other members more than things that interest you isn't a reason to do it.

in fact, considering the point of this system is to get people to make quality posts and not make crappy ones, this would appear to be even more necessary in some of those forums so as to increase the quality there.

honestly, reputation points are a lot like post counts imo. You can be all about them if you want, or you can continue to contribute as you were. The inconsistencies will sort out over time, its not something to fret about.

I've gotten some rep points from tutorials that I wrote 5 years ago and forgot about completely - I assume it was a user who googled the site and found itbut a) the articles are severely out of date and B) the guy is not a known member of the site so for ME that personally means very little. The rep up on my newer freelance article from some of the big bangers - and that sort of thing are a better indicator.

New updates are AWESOME! Thanks for workin so hard on the site guys. Even in the short time I've been on this site, it just keeps getting better and better.

Think the being able to see who voted what up/down could be a bit dangerous though... I've already been tempted to (but had the good sense not to) pm a few users and ask them why they voted down whatever post. :)

Edit: grammar correction

I hope there is a system in place for appeal :) What is to stop some nice newbie from taking revenge and running through the posts and randomly clicking up or down votes?

Edit: BTW ... this place seriously rocks!

Is there a cure for DIC addiction????
