Number Puzzle

Posted 28 February 2010 - 08:30 AM

If:
proc(2,3) returns 10
proc(6,5) returns 66
proc(8,4) returns 96
and
proc(9,1) returns 90

then
proc(9,7) returns what?

(My wife recieved an email of this general format, I solved it for her, and it turned out that the final number was the password to a spreadsheet where you were to add your name to a "list of geniuses" and pass it on. But while it's really not that hard, it was kinda fun, so thought I'd share it.)

It has been there since long before you joined, you probably just never saw it before.

Well, I think I figured it out. Can I PM someone with my answer? Because if I'm wrong I want to go back through it before I look at a spoiler.

Why don't you just post your result in a spoiler and someone will most likely tell you whether you were right or wrong. Or are you not confident you came to the correct solution?! ;)

I'm more confident about my answer than I am making sure I get it into a spoiler tag properly. And trust me, if you knew how many times I've went back and edited code tags because of a typo, you'd understand
