thats totally wierd that yum is trowing that error then, cause thats the URL it looks to do what it does.

Have you tried running yum makecache recently, it may have been a network hiccup

Ok I fixed yum it was a proxy problem. I installed yumex it seems to be working but pup and pirut still don't.

From the gui it gives me a progress bar(retrieving system information), which only moves a small distance then gives me a message box saying "Unable to retrieve system information", and then closes. but on the command it gives me a message of "ERROR: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: core"

Thats an error from yum, so it looks like it may be having the same problem as before

Why does Pirut use yum when I thought it was supposed to be used to install/remove packages that were on CD.

All the package managament is through yum nowadays, and yum can read repos on the CD.

So its going to also look on the web, and any other place it is specified to.
