Everybody always blames the new president for all kinds of shit when he first gets into office. The public holds their campaign arguments to his throat and chastises him because he didn't make those "changes" happen as soon as he waltzed in the door. Give the man some time. I always say the first year or two of a presidency is just getting adjusted. Have you guys not thought about all the crap he has to deal with? Yes, we are in a recession, and yes, we are in a war, but think of all the crap going on that doesn't get released to the public that he's stuck with. Surprise surprise Mr. President!
I know Obama has made a lot of promises of change and stuff in his campaign, but I'm pretty sure his main priority right now is fixing the economy and keeping the country's image. We are known for going out of our way to make sure that every country has it's right to freedom and is oppression/genocide free, so this war is almost more of a symbolic war than a territorial war or anything like that. There has been a lot gained for the betterment of the world in this war, though it doesn't seem to be going anywhere at the moment.
As for the economy, I'm pretty sure he knows that the national debt is increasing. He is spending money on "dumb shit" because he is trying to stimulate the economy to increase consumer spending. In economics class, we learned that GDP = C + I + G + Xn. When G, or government spending, increases, the gross domestic product increases, which basically means our economy is slightly better off (this being a very general case of course). When the consumers see the increased stability of the economy, iflation will lower and consumers will feel more confident about spending. The thing about the stimulus package, however, did backfire imho because the consumers spent it on the wrong thing. Had they been better informed on how they should probably be spendinding that money, the stimulus plan wouldn't have failed as bad as it did. STOP SPENDING YOUR STIMULUS CHECKS ON CRACK COCAINE!!!!! As for bailouts, I think they're just trying to keep the trust in American businesses and discourage outsourcing.
Just my 2 cents. I could be completely wrong, but this is just how I see things.

Taking that same argument, let's say you have a contract at your Air Force gig for 4 years. It's perfectly acceptable for you to "adjust" for the first half of your job time?
The correct answer is no.

Pretty much actually. The first job any lieutenant has is snack bar officer, that way they can get used to the responsibility and stuff. True story. As any lt. about it. Snack bar officer, slide show presentation officer (flips through slides for the presenter), etc. .... XD

Sorry but comparing a normal job to being the President of the United States is dumb. They're nothing alike. Us normal people don't make decisions that will effect millions of people everyday possibly for the rest of the lives. You can't give a guy a pile of shit and expect him to turn into a pile of gold. Its just not going to happen. Obama wasnt handed the best state of everything to work with. Shit takes time, shit takes patience. Especially them big shits, and the ones that are messy and you find the toilet paper breaks and now you got shit on your fingers.
Anyways, back on topic. The economy is already showing signs of improvement. We're not out of the clear and it will take a while for everything to get back to being peachy.

Sethro, he ran because he wanted to; no one forced him. He knew it was going to be shit. So knowing your job is going to be shit ahead of time and constantly passing the buck are incompatible.
On a tangent: All I want is a guy who will do what he said he was going to do. A little integrity would be nice. I don't care what party he's from.

well with military networking of your caliber, we have no reason to doubt that commissioned officers of the united states air force first duty is making sure the oatmeal cream pies are stocked.

Absolutely. I'm rather fond of the Obameter. I think every politician should have one next their name when they go for reelection. Of course, it doesn't include questionable things after the fact, but it's a start.

KYA, I dont think they're incompatible at all. Think about it this way, I know I siad comparing the Presidents job to our jobs is dumb. But think think of the President as a consultant that corporate is sending to a branch of their office. The consultant knows that the former guy drove the place to the ground. He knows he has a long road ahead of him. That doesn't mean he shouldnt take the job or that he should take the blame for the reputation and the the current situation that the former guy left it in. All he can do is recognize the problems and draw up a plan of action to get things going in the right direction again, which in my opinion is what Obama is doing. Bush didnt leave our country in the greatest shape, Obama realized that, he got in there and is looking at what can be done and is making plans to get everything a little bit back to normal.

Based on what you said, we all know more then you do. 1st LTs in the Air Force are not in charge of the snack bar.

What? I didn't say 1st Lt.'s. I said new lieutenants are usually in charge of their office's snack bar. They're 2nd Lt.'s. What the hell is your problem lately?
