Here's an odd concept, why not direct them to resources here on Dream.In.Code? Such as Taking a screenshot in C# or Screen Capture in C# instead of sending them to some other site?

Does it really matter as long as it helps them achieve what they were after? If they get help from folks here regardless of where the guide came from, they'll return back to THIS site in the future. Just my .02 cents.

Actually it does matter. People spend hours and hours writing content for Dream.In.Code to help others, and when you send them to outside sites for help all you're doing is helping the other site and distracting from what we're trying to do here.

While I don't care about the reputation points, I help because I enjoy helping, voting someone down over something like this is nothing but asinine and childish.

I enjoy helping to... regardless of where the source of information comes from. To those people who write tutorials, etc (yourself included) -- THANK YOU!

That said, if you're going to make it so I can't link to guides OUTSIDE of D.I.C., then I will be taking my (volunteered) time and effort elsewhere. I was thoroughly enjoying DreamInCode until this little bit. Saying something along the lines of "You know, we offer guides here for this exact thing, and I'd appreciate it if you kept the help guides within the site instead of referring to outside resources.", then you would have gotten a MUCH better response, rather than "Hey here's an idea!" (note the arrogance & sarcasm in your original statement). *That*, I consider asinine and childish.

I think you're way overreacting here. I had a simple request, point people to resources here on Dream.In.Code, that's what were here for. We're not just a pass though for other programming sites, and honestly you do have a habit of pointing people to other sites instead of using the resources we have available right in this community.

And I can certainly appreciate that. I don't consider D.I.C. a portal to other websites. I consider it a community of mature programmers who very gracefully donate their time, knowledge and experience to those who are in need of assistance. I absolutely love that!

IMHO, you should have used something like the above, or PM'd me the above, rather than what you originally posted.

No disrespect intended. I think you and the rest of the members here are fantastic for doing what you do. I would appreciate the same mutual respect in return from others of course :)

And in the future, I will indeed try to keep links within the site now that I am aware of your concerns.
