I am willing to develop a game in java
I have good knowledge of core java
what book should I prefer to read for developing games
what knowledge I need to have for it?

You should check out the Java Game Development Thread :)

I would suggest having a pretty solid knowledge of Swing components such as JPanel, JFrame, etc. before starting as well.
