Well since this has nothing to do with VB6 I think I'll move it to the Site Check Forum where it can be at home with the other links :)

Clip Art - Navigation buttons aren't clear at all - I had know idea what they represented (Navigation should really be done with an un-ordered list (UL, and List items, LI)
All graphics are blurry.
Scrolling Marquee (!!!)
Unreadable font. (Please read up on typography and line-height)

Rotating images on http://www.summerfie...2-ACCOM-MC.html is just annoying.

Yep that's pretty 90's.

Checkout this site as an example of a nice simple design : http://www.lincolnhotel.co.uk/

Also read up about Accessibility and Usability.

It says on your website that you provide SEO, yet your site and the site you posted in the topic aren't development with standards in mind ( http://www.w3.org/)
And you don't use H1, H2 etc tags.

"Many Designers do not involve themselves with SEO work, " - Yes, because designers design the website (IE they don't code.), and the Web Developer builds the site, with standards in mind.

It just seems that your own company site, and the B and B site are stuck in the 90s and haven't discovered web2.0

Well it was designed by this company (term used loosely of course), which is owned by this member, so what did you expect.

OP I really hope you didnt pay him more than about $25 for that site, I really dont.

Oh I kind of assumed that the OP had designed and developed the site!

I would definitely get a refund and go with a company who actually develops sites to standards, and knows what they're doing!

Protip (if the company's site looks bad - then they produce bad sites) ;-)

I just found and read this topic: http://www.dreaminco..._1&#entry992333
Completely agree with every point Lemur made.

Edit:
After a quick google search I found another site this company 'designed' - http://www.franktonvillagehall.co.uk/ and http://camperhireshr...OURVEHICLE.html It just astounds me that you can be proud of producing work like that. Quite frankly I would be ashamed, let alone pay money for something like that. It saddens me that they clearly don't know basic CSS and don't know how to hand code XHTML. Just looking at the sites Source Code, it's clear that they just use a WYSIWYG editor to provide this site, which just adds a tonne of junk into it, like <big> tags etc, which aren't valid.

I know basic Photoshop techniques, yet I would NEVER call myself a designer. Also it seems they know about image compression - they just over use it! So every image is blurry/pixelated and has artefacts.

/END RANT :)

Oh, well now that's just sad...A member, who's apart of this great community, thinks that's acceptable. You'd think that he would have read SOME of the articles here discussing web design.

When I first viewed the site, my headphones were on the table. I just loaded it again and heard the music play, seriously? That's ONE of THE biggest NO's of web design. This site gives me a headache, I want to redo it out of rage.

I agree with PsychoCoder and revolutionx about getting your money back. It's not even worth $5 to be honest.

This website reminds me of why everybody was so happy when Geocities was taken offline.

When looking for web designers/developers to create a site for you one of the first signs of trouble is a static price tag. With a company offering 'personalised' websites you should expect a personalised price. You should be paying for the time and hard work they put in to the creation of the site and not some arbitrary price that they charge people regardless of what they are providing them.

They should not be charging anything for these designs. It's like a hairdresser who only knows how to cut a Mullet charging professional salon prices at a store offering 'the latest and greatest trends'.

I sincerely hope that they take on board some of this free and valuable criticism they are being given and start learning something new.

I'm sorry, but these websites are truly terrible..
It reminds me of Microsoft Frontpage.. eurgghhh >_<

This is my favourite part of the company's website..

Turns photographs into 'Art'
(Download Size = 3.9Mb)
However, I've created a similar effect simply by opening a photograph in MSPaint and saving it as a .gif file. Example...

Please tell me this is some sort of joke.

Wait, one of their portfolio sites says this:

To visually enjoy this site please download the font "Old Newspaper" (as in the Logo) and install it to C:/WINDOWS/fonts

This must be a joke!

I almost threw up when I saw the designer's (If you can call him that) site.
I'm not sure if he actually knows whats appealing and whats not.
But that is truly sad!!!!!!!

I can't even open his site anymore, it gives me a huge headache, including all of his other sites he made.
Its not even worth a cent, I could find a 12 year old that can design a better site than him, and that follows the standards.

This guy is stuck in the 90's and needs to get out.

I agree with the other members: Get your money back, ALL of it. it wouldn't even be worth a piece of bread.

I'm horrified that this type of design is even legally allowed. I remember said member and I SPECIFICALLY ripped him earlier on all of the above in his post advertising his services and it seems that the level of competence is astonishingly low if he completely ignored everything I said to him in an effort to at least give him half an idea what should be done.... ala http://www.dreaminco...42&#entry992542

Where to begin?
Confusing navigation pictures - bad
A scrolling marquee - bad
Spelling errors - bad
Annoying font - bad
HUGE font - bad
Little animated German Shepard - bad (has to go)
Static images are grainy - bad
Page is 5 screens long - bad
Had to page down just to see anything about your company/B&B - bad
AUTOMATICALLY LOADING MUSIC - NO NO NO! NEVER!

I'm with everyone else. DEFINITELY get a refund and get someone that knows what they're doing.

Yea the size and unreadability of this site is pretty gross. Also I didn't even know that the line of pictures was a navigation bar. And seriously the apostrophe use is pretty bad. Its "bring your pets" not "bring your pet's".
