Going to buy an IPod

Posted 18 July 2006 - 01:38 AM

A year or two ago, I got a dell pocket (5gb) dj for christmas. I was pretty happy with it until a few months later it randomly started locking up, wouldn't hold a charge, and my music kept getting corrupted. I ended up getting 2 replacements, and now, once again, the dj is failing.

I am absolutley fed up with the dj. After browsing the apple site to look at ipods and reading some reviews, I decided that the 4 gig nano was the best solution for me, however I have a few concerns.

A lot of the reviews seemed to hint that the nano scratches easily. After reading this, I started looking at cases. Of the 3 cases I looked at, it appeared that the cases themselves end up scratching the nano anyways.

Do you guys have any experience with the nano, and espeically concerning the topic of scratching? Any input would be appreciated.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

I've got a 4 gig iPod nano, never had any problems with it...to prevent scratching, I have the standard metal case you can get for them...no scratches yet. I suppose everyone will have their own experiences with them. I'm happy with mine.

I'm sporting the 4G white nano. I didn't have problem with scratching until I stopped keeping it in a thin case thing. Havn't had any problems, and I abuse the hell out of it (dropping alot, keeping in my gloove box whice gets about 100 degrees all day long outside)

i guess that would be another concern: durability. obviously the mico hard drives are going to fail sooner than the flash memory utalized by the nano. but i would assume overal contsruction would be similar between the two.

scratches happen and they always have with the ipods, so pick it up, pick up a case, and enjoy.

i have a 20gb click-wheel ipod, and i love mine to death. i had the harddrive fail once (probably because of dropping it like an idiot), and when i took it in, they replaced it free of charge. not a big deal at all. i would recommend an ipod to someone 100%.

also, a scratch is a scratch. i'm totally not concerened with it at all. never used a case, still fine.
