Advise on C# Literature or proper novice starting point

Posted 11 May 2010 - 05:17 PM

Hello! First let me say man I wish I had access to this kind of material when i was like 5yrs old, I am 27 and would be an Amazing programmer now, the younger gen has a plethora of information ready for the taking. Sorry just had to put that out there, My question is regarding C# where in "your" opinions would be a good starting point to properly learn/self-teach with literature that meets the level of a novice coder?. Thanks all, awesome site and I think you seasoned coders are gods! extreme respect.

I liked "C# In Easy Steps", though it's a bit "dated" now. The content inside is still great though.

And of course I also liked "Head First C#".

Head First C# is going to really help you. It's written in a style that is conducive to learning and takes you through some pretty realistic exercises.

Trust me. Almost every other book out there will be a "programmer's book". If you've never programmed before, you'll possibly get caught up in the wrong facets of the craft.

Once you do get up to speed though, definitely start picking some more focused books.
