Be careful doing all that, because it could get you in trouble, especially at school.
But some suggestions:
- Try using another browser (ie: firefox. Although you will probably have to download it and school proxies don't usually let you do that)
- Follow in this browser window: >>Tools >>Internet Options >> Connections. Then somewhere in Settings or LAN settings, there will be a checkbox next to something along the lines of "Use a proxy server"

Thanks! One of the things I have been doing is typing in https:\\ instead of http:\\. It will take me to the blocked page most of the time...

That's not going to do anything, using Firefox and setting it to use a proxy server will just break the browser unless you give it a proxy server to use.

What you need to do is use another proxy server and theres a few ways to go about doing this.

Hey, my school has a proxy like that, the thing we use isuperproxy, www.superproxy.com, careful, it can get your account blocked/banned and beware its pretty damn slow, but it will get you through.

The reason why Firefox might work is that the internet gateway may actually be public and not hidden behind the proxy server, but mostly the internet gatewat is not public and you need a proxy to connect to it.

The other option could be to setup VNC on your computer, unless (and I presume) they have blocked all non-standard ports.
