Launch avast & perform any updates. Then schedule a boot time scan & reboot your computer.

Where I work, my whole job pretty much revolves around removing viruses. I've never had much luck with Avast. This may sound over kill to remove a virus but try running these programs in this order and you should be rid of the virus in a few hours.

1. Download, install, update, and run a full scan of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (The current version is 1.46)

2. Download and run ComboFix (only download from the Bleeping Computer website! Here's the link.) Also ComboFix only works for Windows 2000 or XP so if you have Vista or Windows 7 then skip this step.

3. Download, install, update and run a complete scan of SuperAntiSpyware.

4. Download, install, update, and run a Spybot Search and Destroy scan. Don't forget to immunize before you do the scan.

5. Finally you can now download, install, update, and run a full scan of Nod32 Antivirus 4. The current version is 4.2 and you can download it from www.eset.com

I know this may sound like overkill but trust me as long as you update all these programs before you scan then you can remove virtually any virus!
