[SOLVED] tag for programming forums

Posted 28 May 2010 - 01:49 PM

I was wondering if it was possible to add in the ability to mark a topic as [SOLVED] as is seen on many programming and general computing forums. Doing so would help aid others into finding solutions faster, and help the people helping people ™ when looking for unsolved topics. Ideally, this status could be set by the Moderators or the OP, and the moderators would then have the power to revoke the title and perhaps lock the thread after it is marked solved. I do realize this could be more work for the moderators, but it may very well be worth the tradeoff.

It's something that is in the works, making a thread as solved, but it wont include closing the thread as that makes no sense. What happens is a thread is solved but someone comes along with a better solution, if that thread is closed then they would have no way of posting their improved solution except to open a new thread, which just doesn't make sense :)
