What is a mirror site?

A Mirror site holds copies of resources that originate on remote, and possibly far away, sites. Individuals can use a mirror service to access these resources locally thereby reducing network traffic and requests to the originating servers. As a result, users enjoy quicker and more reliable response times.

running a live radio..i don't think thats possible :sleepy: .

It is possible though it is better known as relaying. I know (at least pretty sure) that ShoutCast can relay streams.

Basically the idea is that if I were to broadcast a stream from home my connection would be swamped even if I had only a few listeners. So what I could do is setup a couple relay servers and then users would connect to those.
