Hi. I am from the UAE and when I go to some sites I get a site blocked message, some people told me to use a proxy server but proxy list sites are blocked.

is there a a way to unblock sites without proxies

Well, not really. There are various ways of using a proxy, some methods easier then others.

What kinds of websites is the UAE blocking?

Well, if you wanted to get around a proxy server for legitimate purposes such as Pornography. That is if Pornography is legal in your country, you could look into an option such as The Onion Router (TOR - http://tor.eff.org/ ) which is a easy to use, easy to set up proxy system that would run on your end.

If you just want to surf the web, TORPark ( http://torpark.nfshost.com/ ) uses the TOR software and a modified version of Firefox. It's portable and requires almost no config or setup.

Not just porn. I'm not interested in porn, I want myspace and vampirefreaks and youtube. Perfectly innocent sites. It's how I code my videos, how I keep in touch with people and how I find new music.

OK, so there are a few "indecent" pages on myspace, but can't they just block those ones other than the whole friggin myspace community?!

I'm not an addict on any of these sites but I do miss them.

So, without assuming "porn freak" as soon as someone asks how to get past blocked sites, ask. Dubai (U.A.E) Blocks some stupid stuff. Stuff that doesn't even go against there culture. People who have broadband don't seem to get sites blocked, but I have dial-up so I do have this problem.

If anyone can help find a way round blocked sites here do let me know because all the porxy sites are blocked as well...

Hey mate,
If you don't have to use a username and password for the net then i am sorry but it looks like you country's routers have websites like that blocked. SO im afraid unless you work for your internet company, downloading a proxy server will do nothing because it is your default gateway not allowing the sites through. It could be your DNS so try looking at the broadband connections DNS (If they can get to the sites you want) and use that as your DNS. If yours and the broadband one is the same then im sorry but you prob going to have to get that broadband.

hi! im from the philippines but im now here in china for a vacation! i applied for a dsl broadband connection to surf the net but i found out i couldnt get in my favorite site which is MULTIPLY where my friends and i post some pictures to remember good times... i just hope you guys could help me out. im not really familiar with computer proxies and stuff, i just tried to surf the net for some answers on how to unblock sites thats how i got here! please help me.. thanks!
