14k for a laptop? it had better be made of gold and turn into a camaro

Nope it definitely was not!! Nothing really all that special aside from the processor and dual vid cards. I think part of that was because of the paint job on it. If you look around their site you will see thats a big deal with that company.

Which company was this with?

I was playing around on Falcon Northwest and I noticed that their "Rain" case was an extra 900$... I think we may have finally found someone who sells even more overpriced computers than Apple...

They use Alienware computers on Deadliest Warrior.

And Pear computers on iCarly - I prefer the Pear over the Apple, not as bitter.

Apple's computers are reasonably priced, which is why they don't need to eke out a profit by slapping crapware on their systems, and they can afford to use higher quality components like aluminum instead of plastic. If you're going to compare their prices with those of cheap PC clones then you need to compare the entire build. You need to recognize that cheap PCs are exactly that: cheap.

You know what? You're right, they are reasonably priced for the specs. I do wish they'd sell something a little lower-end (eg. cheaper) than the Mac mini though.

Why would you need a laptop with those specs? Is it for gaming or something?

Development, Video Rendering, a little Gaming, etc... I have very low tolerance for lag anyways. The SSD will greatly help on that end. It's a bit overkill in some areas but I don't like upgrading often unnecessarily and I'm overdue for an upgrade on my Windows setup.

As far as development goes, I pretty much refuse to work on anything less than a dual core box with 4 gigs of ram on top of dual monitors. And it better be a full size case with a spacious and ergonomic keyboard and a giant ass heavy mouse. If I was developing all day on a laptop I would go nuts.

My computer at work is a quad-core with 4 gigs of ram and dual monitors (although they are only 19 in. monitors and I'd rather have big widescreens)

I always use an external mouse and keyboard anyway unless I'm traveling and I always use an external monitor as well. It doesn't need to be in a box to accomplish this.

EDIT: I use a 24" monitor with Windows setup and a 30" with my macbook pro setup

so why not just buy a desktop and get more powerful hardware for the same cost?
