How can I backup my Asus Netbook?

Posted 13 June 2010 - 10:52 AM

I have tried to use a usb stick and put something called Bart PEtoUSB on it. And boot with it. It allows you to boot into Acronis and then plug an ext hdd or another usb stick and back up your netbook and store on ur choice.
But when i boot it isn't working...says "remove media and hit any key to restart". I don't know what the issue is. Because i wiped all the files from the usb and am currently booting with a program to run "live linux distros". Just want to ck some distros out without installing and to see if it works on the usb stick too.

Any ideas on how to back up? If all fails I'll buy an optical drive. I'm looking for one that is small and runs on usb that requires no outside power source.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

I use dd to duplicate drives.

dd if=/dev/source_drive out=/dev/iso_file
