Hey everyone,
So its finally time for a new laptop, I was hoping you guys would help me out pick the a nice one, I myself am biased towards Dell laptops, but please everyone share your opinions with the brand you prefer as well as the model and specs. Also price is not an issue for me. Alright I'll be waiting for your recommendations.

I personally don't like Dell because they've gone to great lengths to keep people from overclocking their machines. Other than that, no complaints.
If I had the money right now I'd probably go with a custom build:
Asus Motherboard
Pentium i7 CPU
Atheros Wireless N Card
8gb of DDR2 or DDR3 RAM
GForce Graphics Card
Liquid Cooling System
Whatever other bells and whistles I could afford...
But if we're playing with no limits on money I'd just daisy-chain a ton of PS3's and run Linux on it

I love the Panasonic toughbooks but they are way to expensive for me.

I'm quite surprised that no one on here has yet asked you what you plan on doing with the laptop aside from development work. While I understand that budget is not an issue, obviously having an overkill laptop when you don't need one doesn't make sense either. Want to make a quick list of things you would use it for?
Also on a side note, I take it it's safe to assume this is a Windows only laptop base on the Dell comment? Being a Windows user practically my whole life since DOS and a Mac user in recent years (last 3 actively), I would personally recommend a Mac but obviously I don't want to get into a huge debate with everyone on here about the Mac VS PC argument. Of there are specific reasons for wanting the Mac in my case so unless your list of needs require it, it doesn't really matter.

Earlier this week, I got this laptop
http://www.newegg.co...N82E16834220715
It's an recertified laptop, which is why it's a good price. The only issue is that occasionally a cyan line goes down the screen. At first I freaked out, but it went away. I understand that a line down the screen randomly could be a deal breaker, but other than that I have no complaints.

I agree with this person.
What are you going to mainly use your laptop for? Because for all I know, I can recommend this laptop to you.

personally for me a great + in laptop is if you can turn the touch pad from a button on a laptop (not using the windows to do it). this things freaks me up clicking and moving my mouse when i write. i personally have very bed exp. with Dell. I always thing that is better to buy a high rate mid class laptop then a mid rate high class laptops for the same money. My brother have HP Pavilion + Vista (the horror
) and he have no trouble with it. it is a little hot after all it is AMD processor and the fan was cleaned 2 for 3 years. My GF have Dell Inspiron (or Inspirion it was) and even that they make me buy windows separately i try for 10h to make it run (who to know you have to turn off the SATA to install windows on this laptop
).
I think it is your decision. you will be the one that will use it
