Hello everyone. After several minutes of looking for a good programming forum I think I've found the best one. But a little about me I'm going to be going to Indiana State in the fall majoring in Computer Science. So I am looking forward to that. I'm pretty sure that programming is something I want to do, and it is something that I can say that I have the most interest in. However, I do have some questions about the field. I'm guessing that it is a very competitive job market, I want to know if this is something that will pay the bills if I can do the programming well. And what are some real jobs I would be looking at besides doing freelance work? So if anyone can answer my questions, which I'm sure a lot of you can, it would be extremely helpful.
Thanks
Hello

First off, welcome to DIC! Glad to have you here to add to what is an already extremely gifted community.
Those are all very good questions to ask before taking the jump into making something a living:
-I feel that programming(Software Development related careers) definitely will pay the bills if you have the skills. And you've already proven that you are willing to obtain these skills by joining DIC. Good job! You're well on your way.
-Real jobs? Where do I start? How can you even begin to answer a question like this. There are so many opportunities. CS is a big field! I'm currently hoping to become a Software Engineer/Developer.
You would probably get much better answers if you were to post this question here:
