Faster tutorial approvals.

Posted 21 July 2010 - 12:30 PM

I think it would be a good idea that people with 500+ kudos have their tutorials automatically approved.

It would mean less work for the staff and less irritation from someone who worked hard on a tutorial. If you have 500+ kudos, it means that you know how to write tutorials and submit quality things, right?

Even on the off-chance someone who is that far up, submits something bad, the community comments would most likely allow the author to correct any mistakes he made to the tutorial.

You thoughts?

I wouldn't be opposed to auto-approve for Experts, but I don't know that I would support it for authors and contributors. Don't get me wrong, they submit some awesome tutorials and snippets. However, I have seen some instances where maybe an improvement was in order before submission, and some that I would disapprove b/c of rapid submission for the sake of getting kudos (similar to rapid posting to increase one's post count) amongst members with 500+ kudos.

There are certain groups right now who have auto-approval on submissions, and I dont see that changing any time soon to be honest. Even me, as an Administrator, most often request to have my tutorials/snippets reviewed by a team member before they go into the system, and others shouldn't be any different.

Just wait the waiting period and let the system do it's work and let us do our job ;)

You may be hard-pressed to find a member with 500+ rep and not being in one of the groups that get their snippets/tutorials auto-approved.

I think the current system of checking and approving snippets work fine overall, although I did mention somewhere that it would be a good idea for mentors to be allowed to approve snippets/tutorials for their respected forums that they are mentors for. Someone like pbl for example could approve tutorials/snippets in the Java forum and it makes sense seeing as if there tutorials/snippets get approved automatically, they should have the right to check and approve others. This will decrease the backlog of tutorials/snippets in the queue and allow dream.in.code staff to be less strained at times where there are lots of tutorials and snippets being submitted, just my 2 cents.

We have been talking about a system like that for a while, and it might happen in the future. And on another note, even I have to have my snippets approved...
