HP DV600 Laptop Problem

Posted 17 August 2010 - 10:06 AM

I've been figuring out what made my HP DV600 Laptop slow, My hard drive is full that even if i delete a file its free space doesn't change, LAN connection is no longer editable, DVD-ROM not detected, could not open most of my applications and system configurations like control panel and a like.

When i open a folder it takes years to open..

I have a core 2 duo processor
2Gb DDR2
and et al.

I tried to boot it from CD but it doesn't detect it
I tried Booting it from USB and still no luck...
I tried Booting it from LAN and same result no luck..

I scanned it with Microsoft security essentials, AVG, AVAST, NORTON and other free anti viruses using my PC but they didn't detect any virus nor worm...

can someone explain why is this happening and how it happened?
if none, any theory is appreciated...

Need Help! any kind of help! suggestions is pretty much what i need!

Thanks in advance

Do you have another computer and a USB to laptop hard drive adapter?

You could remove your laptops hard drive and scan it using another computer. Also, did you scan for malware and spyware? Try using Lavasoft's adaware and see if that finds anything.

Can you see what services are running, under Task manager? Is anything taking up all of your CPU cycles?

I cannot stress enough that you be careful removing the files as instructed below. I don't want to hear that you trashed your system because I told you to. Research what the commands do, research their dangers, & only proceed if you understand 150% what you are doing!

What size hard drive do you have? I would follow calvin's suggestion of removing the hard drive, placing it onto another system, & removing any crap that's saved on the drive.

After you've removed the excess, boot into safe mode / command prompt, log in as administratior, & issue chkdsk /r to fix any errors in the file system. You should also been able to cd to \documents and settings\owner <-- your user id\local settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\ & issue del /s /q. After that boot into safe mode & run a defrag.

It seems as a hard disk drive corruption. Backup the data as soon as possible as told by the guys, and then try fixing it. However, I think that it needs replacement.
Sometimes when you are working it goes very slow and then back fast?
