Whats wrong with my wireless connection

Posted 24 September 2006 - 02:00 PM

My belkin wireless connection keeps disconnecting and connecting on my computer, its not my internet because it totally disconnects from the router, im not sure if its my computer or the main router, i just need to know how to stop it doing this because last week it was fine and now its doing this, i tried reinstalling my adapter and i uninstalled and reinstalled, ive tried everything but it doesnt change anything, just the same thing over and over again, im on this site right now in one of the brief periods when it actually works, if anyone can help me by telling me whats wrong or just suggesting things i would be grateful.

Your losing the wireless connection then? How far away are you from the wireless router? If you have a low wireless signal, your connection will be intermittent.

I personally run a Belkin AP, they have good range but it seems to have packet crashes and hangs up often, so I end up rebooting the router like 4 times a week.

Im about 5 foot from the router which is just upstairs, i have a strong connection, and im really confused because its never been like this before, ive also tried rebooting the router.

Contemplating buying a new adapter.

Ill be on tomorrow probably, its getting worse today and it generally runs slightly longer if i leave it for awhile.

too many connections can crash a router.

my router started messing up as soon as i changed firefox's settings to send 30 requests per site, so i dont know if that might have something to do with it.

If you type ipconfig (windoze) or ifconfig (*nix) in the command line do you have an ip address like 192.168.2.1 or nothing?

Have you tried re-installing the router software?
