Nvidia Graphics Card With Fedora Core5

Posted 28 September 2006 - 01:15 AM

Hi,

I've been running fedora core 5 for a while a finaly decided to try to install the drivers from my Nvidia Graphics card. I have installed kmod-nvidia through yum which also installed the xorg-drv-nvidia. but when I use the nvidia drivers I get a message about not nvidia card found. I have an Aopen Motherboard AX45F-4DN with a sis chipset if I do a kudzu -p it shows a sis pro315 card. Any Ideas on how to get round this.

Thanks for any help

I've done something close to this using the livna repos to get a nvidia card working in core5:

Hi,
That's more or less what I am doing.. Download and install the kmod-nvidia and the xorg-x11-drv-nvidia... only difference is that the how-to in your link does not tell you to enable the the nvidia driver which all the others that I have found say. As soon as I enable it then X crashes can't find the card...

These are the rpm that were downloaded...
kmod-nvidia-1.0.8774-1.2.6.17_1.2187_FC5.i686.rpm
xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-1.0.8774-1.lvn5.i386.rpm

uname -a gives me this
Linux Abby 2.6.17-1.2187_FC5 #1 Mon Sep 11 01:17:06 EDT 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
