hi before i begin, i'm not sure if it's okay to post this question in this forum, but i don't know what to do
my problem is i have a flash disk that automatically write protects itself when it reaches a certain amount of disk space(i have a 4GB flash disk and i can only safely put 480MB without my flash disk automatically write protects itself)
at first i thought it was a virus, but no matter how many times i scan it with various antivirus software it still won't detect anything. even if i reformat it(which i have done a dozen times), the problem still stays. I also tried placing other files and did not return my flash disk's original content.
and also if i transfer multiple files, and the next file in line will exceed the 480MB limit it finishes the transfer but the next file won't be copied, for example i already have 450MB in my disk and the file i will put is 50MB and another 50MB together(or at the same time), the first 50 MB will be copied but the next 50MB the computer says the usb is write protected.
another thing is when i plug my flash disk it won't be write protected immediately(that's why i can reformat it) but when i access files in usb, it will be write protected again.

hi, sorry for the late reply, it's because i can't find its model number, it only says bluthunder in the packaging ang on the flash disk itself,
but it kinda look like this except for the colors and design
note:it only looks like the same, but i don't know about the specifications, maybe mine's an old model
the stainless casing is plain metallic with bluthunder written on it, and it's plastic casing is colored white
BTW, i tried using trucrypt and created an encrypted container 3GB(FAT) and even in there there's still a ceiling, however when i created another container but instead of fat i used NTFS* and my flash disk seem's to work fine now
*i forgot if it's exactly NTFS but it's 4 leters and stars with N and this is the format of the hard drive in windows

When you say it's "write protected" is that because it says something to that effect in an error message? Or is is saying "device full" or similar? Or some kind of I/O error? The drive could be faulty. Or it could be a fake. There are a lot of counterfeit flash devices from China which claim a much higher storage size than they actually have. Did it used to work?

yeah it's in an error message when i copy a file it says "the disk is write protected. please remove the write-protection or use another disk."
And also even it's write protected at the moment, when i safely remove it and plugs it again it's back to normal, it's not write protected anymore. It's really not exactly but almost 4GB, I've been using it for months now and i don't think it's faulty 'cause i bought it at a good computer store here.
