What IDE to use for ASP.NET with C#?

Posted 18 September 2010 - 05:32 AM

I use Visual Studio Express 2010 for my tiny C# projects. I want to start learning ASP.NET with C# and any help picking the right IDE is appreciated. Also, some beginner ASP.NET tips are welcomed. :)

Thank you.

You will still use Visual Studio. You will use Visual Studio for any .Net applications.

For tips and tutorials, see our Tutorials page.

So, I can use Visual Studio C# Express for ASP.NET? I thought I needed something like Visual Web Developer, but thanks. :)

Sorry, yes, you will need to use Visual Web Developer.

Visual Web Developer is still Visual Studio. Since it's free and it only does Web projects, then it's simply called Visual Web Developer as to not get it confused with the full versions of Visual Studio.

There's monodevelop and sharpDevelop to name a couple of alternatives, but Visual Web Developer would probably be best
