It think it's great to be able to look at code and tell when there's going to be an error. It may not be 'compiling' it but that's what allows you to be able to help others.

My favorite pass time is headbutting pigeons.

Its not about understanding the logic behind the code.

Its about understanding the logic behind reality, and translating that into code.

sometimes code has no logic, which doesn't make for a very good program in most cases, but it led to the invention of fuzzy logic, which i much closer to AI, in the sense that general guidelines and weights are important, but at any point for the greater good, a better decision may be made by combinging rules.

It has been a long time since I've done any real coding, much less compiling. I used to write custom Database routines for a living but got burned out after working 3 years of 80+ hour weeks. Now I use my computers for other pursuits and hardly program at all.

I suppose I should get back into the swing of things but where to start? I've grown lazy and complacent now that I've retired, so don't want to do anything that is too hard any more. Even the teaching job I have, I set my own hours, days, and course content.
