Communism can pretty much be summed up as 'doing the right thing because you're forced to'. The whole problem with it was (is) that there is no ability to discern what is right for each individual on a higher level than that individual's own, and so being forced to do something "because it's right" doesn't mean you're being forced to do the right thing- just that you're forced to do something. How is that a good idea?

In other words, you have no idea what Communism or even Marxism really is. Bravo.

Communism, specifically Marxism, is a socio-economic system which does very little in the way of attempting to define morality. On top of that, the problem with Marxism is (was) that it's easily hijacked by lunatic totalitarian dictators.

Poor Marx. He was such a good science fiction writer. It's really the fanfic that's ruined his reputation... :P

Seriously, Marx wrote about a Utopia that will happen, given the forces of industry and economic apartheid he saw in the world of his time. He believed the system was unsustainable and that it must collapse on itself. From the ashes, a world of equality might rise. He didn't really count on the middle class or it's ability to be distracted by shiny objects.

Every government based on Marx's Communism is a lie; Karl believed his vision would evolve naturally. As programmers, we should especially appreciate the great divide between design and implementation.

As for the anti Muslim Tea Baggers? The group has some basic beliefs that are universal to any movement; we don't like the system now, we don't like where we are in it, we want change. It seems to have several feeds, right wing folks who want somewhere to hang their hats as they rant, people recently hit hard by the current economic environment, racists, and militant Christian fundamentalists. While the first two groups probably provide the bulk, the last two tend to scream the loudest.

Potentially, but far less likely as Marxism specifically calls for a "Vanguard" of the revolution to be put into power with a dictator at its head. Also, if those people maintain the right to arm themselves they could overthrow their corrupt government.

It never turns out to be about the soup. This is the lounge, it turns into what people want to pull from it and argue about.

Right, back to soup. I love soup. I made soup last night...

Halal is very close to Kosher. Most Muslims keeping halal will eat kosher. If anything, both sets of rules shame the US FDA in terms of food quality and purity.

If you're buying a chicken at the store, get a kosher chicken. They're treated well and come already brined, though they can have the odd feather; they must be frozen very soon after slaughter. They also aren't allowed to use certain industrial processes.

If you're getting lamb or goat, and are lucky enough to have a large Islamic community, go with halal. I get the odd goat leg from Muslim marts. The meat in the little family owned places may not be federally inspected, but halal is good enough for me.

Following the rules of a particular group to broaden your market appeal is a very American thing to do. You can be assured that the Muslim and Jewish communities know which products are "safe". The shame is that some "Christian" companies seem to intentionally make foods unsafe, perhaps just for spite.
