Computer does not turn on right away.

Posted 18 October 2010 - 04:19 AM

Hi everyone I was just wondering why this happens to my new computer (custom build):

When I press the power button, nothing happens for about 3 seconds, then all the lights flash and fan spins for a split second then it turns off again. Then 3 seconds later it turns on and runs like normal.

Could this be the sign of something wrong?

Thanks,
Zach

Is that all the time? I had a build recently that turned on and after a few seconds turns off again and it keeps repeating. I found that the heat sink compound was not properly on my CPU.... scary.

I would check the BIOS & make certain that all of your fan speeds are reporting correctly. Most often when something is delayed, it's because a check is not necessarily failing, but having to wait until it times out. So you could have a device that isn't required to work, or report success, for the computer to operate, but waiting for the response maybe timing out.
