Which secondary language?

Posted 29 October 2010 - 06:09 AM

Good day all!

My main programming languages are Java for Software and PHP for web. I want to learn another software programming language, maybe a scripting language such as perl or python. Does anyone else have a secondary language? What are good tools for a programmer to have in his arsenal?
Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

A brain.

Well, if you're wanting to learn a new programming language I would take into consideration why you need to learn it, or how benefitial would it be, what system are you going to be targeting, or you're just learning it just for the sake of learning it. Lots of factors to look into.

I think it's a toss up between perl and python.

This is just my personal opinion, but I would prefer Python. It's syntax is very loose and easy on the eyes. There's also tons of API's out there to do GUI building, and other useful stuff. I don't know much about Perl and what it offers.
