Desktop not taking up all of monitor

Posted 30 October 2010 - 06:38 PM

Hello, I have a XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 and a Dell ST2210 monitor. I just got a HDMI cord a began using it. The resolution I'm using is 1920 x 1080; that is the max. What is different now than when I was using a DVI cable is that the desktop don't fit the whole monitor, there are black bars surrounding the desktop. I've been using Catalyst Control Center to see there is a setting to fix this to no avail. I've even Googled my problem and found something about an underscan which I can't find in Catalyst Control Center. Is there a way to fix this?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Is there Radeon driver/software control panel running next to the windows clock (on the task bar)? If not, you should see there driver software available under the control panel. You could try setting the resolution with the desktop display properties (right click the desktop->properties, or start->control->display), but most likely the card is going to want this to be set with it's proprietary software.

Yes there is. I've tried that. On the Desktop Display Properties I have it set to 1920x1080. If I go really low though the desktop will take up the whole screen, but leaving things distorted and unclean.

What is the resolution of the Monitor itself?
There is a chance that your monitor dose not support the same resolution that your video card dose.

Are there any settings in your monitors menu that you can change, such as vertical height, horizontal width, and center. Every time that I change my video cards settings I have to re adjust my monitors settings.
