Question on Cygwin commands.

Posted 02 November 2010 - 05:15 AM

First of all if this is the wrong forum please move it as necessary. I wasn't sure where else to post. I just installed Cygwin and had 2 questions about it.

1) When I installed it I clicked download files first but when I woke up this morning it had apparently been installed by itself. >.>

My question is how do I change the folders location. (When I do it in windows Cygwin stops working properly.)
The current home folder location is C:/Cygwin/Setup/setup.exe/home/username

I want the home folder to become C:/Cygwin/home/username.

2) Part of the tutorial I am going through has me run "hello world" through the DOS but I get the following error.

The program can't start because cygwin1.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

So any help on this would be greatly welcomed. I know Cygwin isn't really linux but for my class purposes it will do fine. Thanks in advance for the help.

The tutorial I have been using is http://www2.warwick....k/cygwin/part1/

If you are unhappy with how it installed, then you would probably be better off first uninstalling. Then read any install documentation. Then install it again.
