Greetings,
I know im a year late but its never a bad time to introduce your self to the world,
My name is Ahmer Javed and im a comp sci major.. I Love the math world and think its interesting. I grew my love out of hate. There was a time where i really hated math and did not want to learn it. well i guess i was wrong. As i went through high school Algebra seemed very cool to me. I really like Calculus and Trigonometry and the power of Math. In high school i took C++ twice. Freshman year i dropped C++ because i was a failure. I never paid attention in class and the reason for me taking that class was to actually learn C++. But as a freshman in HS.. I shouldnt have taken the course. So then after 3 years passed and i learned more math. I took C++ in Senior year. Thanks to many of the members here. with all their help and dedication i was able to pass in programs and get an A+ on every single one of them. I had times where i did not understand an error and we all have this. I needed help Dream in code was always there for me. Now im in college. Right now im at Suffolk University. Not really happy with the comp sci program. They are teaching Java in a confusing way. Im stuck on many assignments just because i dont get it even tho i read the book. Half of the class dropped the course. so synopsis of the class. Java + Pixels and Pictures = Confusion. Later we will be dealing with JAVA + sound. Not to mention this is a Computer Science 1. the first course. so you have different types of people. the only reason im kind of getting it is because i learned C++. Im not learning JAVA at all that course.. Well Thanks for all the help. I hope to start contributing and helping others. that way i keep being good and getting better at programing myself

I've heard that programming courses at college they make you write out programs on paper to make sure you have the syntax right, is this true?

Yeah </Dream.In.Code> has helped me a lot, i would search forever trying to find something on google but couldn't, then i'd ask on here and it would completely solve my problem. Like just recently i didn't know how to search a file for keywords in C++ and janotte and Djabby helped me a ton.
