Not an ATI fan, over the last year or two I've been slowly becoming an Intel whore too...

I've heard that there are plans to develop a CPU/GPU on a single wafer...

Some interesting concepts could come of this.

I think I've just stood in some holy crap.

They already build fpus etc. into the main chips so gpus are just the next step. Once things go multi core (i.e. higher than the 2 now or 4 soon...like 32 cores) you'll find all sorts of specialised processing units using up some of the spare cores. They'll have more cores than they know what to do with.
