Well, contributor to expert to forum leader in less than a week is certainly something that surprised me. I'm not surprised I'd be considered, just the speed that it happened. Saying that, I couldn't be more pleased with it :)

Adding a much-belated introduction in this thread.

For those interested, I currently work on django for MassChallenge, a startup accelerator in Boston. I also enjoy solving Project Euler problems and other mathematical diversions. I also like long walks on the beach and PEP-8 formatted code.

Alo, new Forum Leader here. I'll be going on about Spark and Big Data solutions in Scala and Python.

Just today I got 'promoted' to Forum Leader, so time for a short introduction.

I am educated and working as Chemical Engineer; programming I took up 5 years ago, primarily to support my son who, then, wanted to program because he wanted "to be as rich as Bill Gates". Such a goal I could only support.
Anyway, as a teenager he soon developed many other interests, but I found myself addicted to programming, and primarily using python.
I have made really many games using pygame, but I also like code challenges such as those found in Project Euler or Rosalind.
Actually, I often find the topics here on DIC are small (or large) code challenges, and I love to play along...

My avatar is a tribute to my two teenage kids; they surely often find that I am a Grumpy Old Man.
