Grub error:no sutch device

Posted 09 December 2010 - 05:19 AM

Hi, i've got into trouble with linux... (again) .
I'm on Ubuntu 10.04, last night i shut my PC down, everything worked normaly, now, i get a grub error...I've installed Ubuntu using Wubi, and, sadly, i can't find the Ubuntu bootable CD, so i'm stuck with a Backtrack DVD and a Windows XP CD (to get acces to my PC).
Here is what i get:

Starting up...
error:no sutch device: bdfb950e-65ce-496f-be9b
grub rescue > _

Can somewone please help me with it? Please make it noob-friendly.

For whatever reason the UID of the device has changed. Try to get your hands on a live-cd and change up the UID in the grub config file.

I've repaired it by using a windows install CD, and writing in the repair prompt : bixmbr and fixboot.2 words :)
