I'm trying to decide which memory module I should get. I'm not sure which is better. The first one is a Patriot G series ‘Sector 5’ Edition 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model PGV38G1600ELK. The second one is G.SKILL Trident+ Turbulence II Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Desktop Memory Model F3-16000CL9D-4GBTDD. Which is better?

Those are both good choices for RAM I think. I have never used G.Skill, but I have heard good things. Out of the two, I would personally get the Patriot just because I have used them before and never had any problems. Plus, you will be getting twice as much RAM for 5 dollars less (if you use the MIR).

The only reason I posted this thread is because I want to know if 8GB of RAM running at 1600 MHZ would be better than 4GB running at 2000 MHZ.

Ah ok that makes sense. I have never really noticed any kind of performance increase by getting RAM that fast vs RAM that is a little bit slower. I'm sure it exists, but it may not be enough that it would really matter, especially if you are putting this in a machine that's already blazing.

What sort of processor are they running with? Motherboard? Are they running dual, try, quad channel?
On face I would say the difference between 1600mhz and 2000mhz is not noticeable as the difference between 4 and 8gb of ram.

I'm getting a http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813131668 and a http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819103808. I think that I will go with the 8GB.

That processor is a great one. My younger brother has that in his machine and it runs like the wind. Good luck with your build!

It really depends on what you need. I would recommend going with the faster RAM, but if you are running out of RAM with the faster RAM and end up constantly using the paging file (virtual memory), then go with the higher quantity over the faster speed.
