probably already said, but trying to re-create life by finding the correct combination of amino acids to make a basic protein, and so on.

Best example::
having a watch taken apart, and put it in a bag. Shake the bag until all the pieces form the watch again.

that's a horrible example. the watch didn't come to be, it was assembled. you give the pieces to someone and have them assemble it.

Or maybe all the pieces tossing around the bag will slowly destroy each other.

Holy shit! Metaphor for life!

NO NO NO, you guys have it wrong. You put the watch in a bag, then hit it with a hammer!

Girl has teh eggs.

Boy has teh swimmers.

New human doesn't come to be.

It must be assembled

That's a theory. The problem is that if you go back far enough in time then some material that was not life had to form into something that was life through some process that was not an act of assembling by life.

It reminds me of the "chicken and the egg" question of witch one came first. They didn't come into being over night, they evolved into what is know an egg and a chicken.

I would emulate an infinite number of monkeys with an infinite number of keyboards. The computer can now instantly answer any question for which you can write a test case.

I would construct the infinite probability drive and wait for Zaphod to come and steal it.

can we make girlfriends with this computer? after we figure out how to make life i think creating girlfriends would be amazing. i think they made a movie about that in the 80's where 2 guy's figure out that they can scan things and make them life size and real. as soon as we have the technological to make living things like that im gonna make a company that sells the hardware :P "the best organic processing unit's available, ishka OPU's!!"

This short little creature that shows up on my doorstep every Thursday and I can't get the hell out of my house until Monday when it only leaves for the sake of educating itself. I think it's trying to learn new abilities to sneak itself into my home for longer periods of time. I hope I don't have to call an exterminator.

Oh and sometimes it puts booze in me to coerce me into doing things that I was told were bad.

Ah, weird science. The computers of the 80's were so awesome. 3 kids and a PC could make an airtight bubble that served as a space transport. But you had to be careful, they could suck you in and trap you in a world of electronic life or death games!

Seriously though, I'd probably run all the programs similar to [email protected] or [email protected] and all other large computation programs so that we can answer the questions that the universe may have answers to.

Google has already done so.. And this is their result..
