Creating realistic Tires in Illustrator

Posted 14 January 2011 - 11:25 AM

Hi, does anyone know how to create semi-realistic tires in Illustrator ? There was one tutorial which was exactly what I was after, but I didn't want to pay for a subscription so hopefully there are some talented Illustrator artists to help me :flowers:

I found a link with a quick google search for a semi-decent looking tire in Illustrator.

I'm guessing this would require quite a broad spectrum of techniques to achieve. Your best bet might be to use the link Kilorn posted as a basic starting point and then look for tutorials for specific parts of the tyre. Such as the rubber look and shiny spokes.

Hope that helped somewhat :)

There are tons of effects for a nice shiny metal effect, I would think that the rubber and treads would be a little harder. If you can get a basic tyre then maybe we can help more with specific areas :)
