You can learn everything their bots search for in a few minutes, including the naive text file to stop google bots from searching certain directories... because that works, lol

As an FYI, just beacause it's never been made public that a google server has been hacked does not necessarily mean it has not happened.
EXACTLY... THE ABSENCE OF EVIDENCE IS NOT THE EVIDENCE OF ABSENCE!!!! (scream it out)...
Look wheter we debate the issue of hacking/cracking blah blah it doesn't matter because if you really want to be paranoid...everyone knows everything already... i mean usa works on a level where they want people to be scared!!!hence you can control them...god man...you can use google earth and find out exactly where your house is and get a digital picture of it...i mean thats supposed to be CIA shnit....so if the normal public have such machines and programs what do the major governments have!!!!the thing is we as civilians are all ignorant. will always be...hence we will always be controlled to follow the big machine which is society...
by the way...i thawt hackers was an ok movie...represented sum bull crap though..but still KEWL!!! the book was better (by some bishoff dude..) it was taken from the movie...much much much better...wanna get a copy of that...as well as the movie...well i believe in opensource so if anyone has the movie or book in opensource (FREE!!!) then hook me up

Microsoft haven't released an opensource version of Windows or Office but you can get it all over the place...and if you're lucky the cracker wont have bunged a load of their own illicit code in the downloaded files too

i love piracy..honestly...the reason is companies have ALWAYS had extremely high prices for software...
i know...they'r going to say its high becoz people don't buy the software nemore blah blah blah...
but think about it..if lets say a game was sold at R100 (i think this is roughly $14) (with all the current piracy protection)...would crackers really waste their time trying to commercially crack the damn game since its cheap...probably not..even if they did..it would be easier just to buy the damn game then actually find the pirated copy...hence more products would be sold and badabing companies would earn more revenue....
Instead games cost south africans R400-R600.Windows costs R2000 (for home edition) i think professional cost about R4000. ( divide by 7 for approx $ costs). I'm not 100% sure about the prices but its somewhere there...ITS GODDAMN ridiculous. i ain't paying for that shit..rather fork out R200 and get a pirated copy...
newayz...about advice where to get the

I love getting stuff for free and I agree with you about the ridiculous pricing of proprietary software but I'm moving away from pirate software now that there is legit free software to do everything I need to do and drm is being stepped up a gear.
I can't be bothered basically. I can download a free working application for Linux (or a free version for Windows...Firefox, Thunderbird, open office, nant, mono...etc.) and use it without risk and with support or I can download a cracked app that might have trojans, or a legit version that I then need to search for a patch for then each day I use it I risk being found, out as software nowadays seems to contact it's maker more often than a monk, and get no support for it.
Also now that I am a coder myself I have a new outlook on software. I want to write useful software that people can use for free but I also want to make a living at it. The more secure my living the more free stuff I can give out...I know we're talking mostly big corporations here but I feel a little hypocritical nicking stuff from other coders who also want to make a living.

at home i'm running a p2 400MHZ pc with WinXP...no internet...everything fine ...playing movies etc...when i do need stuff i can go to the net at Varsity or work but i need only go once a month...chances are that my friends have downloaded the stuff neways. so life is easy...
this is my first experiance with linux (ubuntu) and god i'm ALWAYS looking for stuff on the net to get the software...right now in South Africa internet connections are expensive and so is downloading (takes a while unless you with a company or can afford ADSL,etc). So the world is not ready for this type of opensource yet...give me a opensource DVD with ALL the packages needed (like windows does) and i'll leave windows alone (its pirated btw
so what do ppl like us do then???
also i don't have issues with support or trojans etc... (have no idea why everyone does) i also don't have an anti-virus on my pc!!! so those things don't apply to me...its a weird cycle...

You're very lucky to have only ever used software that works perfectly out of the box.

its not that it works perfectly out of the box but with a lil tweaking everything works smoothly...
plus i think pirated versions are usually patched and everything
