But do you really think anyone would strive to produce DOS, WINDOWS, RED HAT, etc if they weren't going to gain from it?

red hat is based off of an open source operating system...

I quote me

and I quote "Advertisements... contain the only truths to be relied on in a newspaper." - Thomas Jefferson

which has about as much relevance to the point as what you just said

except here you said open source extinguishes the driving force behind capitalism.

then you used red hat as an example of that incentive, while red hat is an actual example of open source and capitalism co existing.

I take exceptance to your interpretation of what I said. I believe I see the word FORCED in there. AND I started the sentence with IF that's telling you this is my oppinion of what might have happened if all code were forced to be OPEN SOURCE. I used Capital I and capital F for emphases, maybe I should start color coding my words that are not seen.

Also I notice that RED HAT does not leave their code completely OPEN SOURCE either. That was my point, not the elimination of Contributory Open Source, only then wrongness of the idea that everything should be FORCED Open Source.

If the code in question is not open source, he probably can't. Not without breaking the law anyways.

whoo weee... i started a whole war....
neways...

Look there is a certain limit to everything...do you honestly think it is fair that Bill Gates has sooooooo much money that he can't even use it all???? and at the same time microsoft sets up a base in india in which they pay high quality programmers the equivelent of about $100 per month (which even in indian terms is HORSESHIT!!!!)... i think $100 is a very high estimate (its probably closer to $20) but i'm just being safe... Also communism takes it too far( well the one that was practised in mother russia) by giving everyone the same pay etc for doing different types of jobs...you need a good balance... in which everyone is treated fairly...that will never happen becoz humans by nature are power hungry, destructive, selfish creatures... :) ...

now since the political debate (of mine neways) is over...

as someone just sed (too lazy to check it was in the posts above) if the OS is given free (no source code though) or a very small cost is charged for it (wait didn't i say all of that already..neways...) with the basic programs needed...and prices went down on MSoffice etc... (to a reasonable amount) more people would by the shit...piracy won't end...but it won't be an issue... :) ugh...this debate has gone too far... i just wanted a torrent link to hackers the movie...nebody??? :)

Actually, I've removed this post. I don't want to find out if I was allowed to post it or not, so it has been taken away.

To be honest Hadies, I have no idea. We'll find out when I get kicked. I hope I don't though, I like it here. If I'm not allowed to put a torrent link up, I'll edit my post and delete it.

Underneath the download bit, there are some comments about how to get it working, you should go back and read those.
