Whatever you do, don't jump back and forth between languages like I do!

I disagree. If you don't "know" how to program yet jumping between languages might find you a language you are more comfortable with. If you do "know" how to program it will give you more options. Syntax may be different but the underlying logic is mostly the same.

comfort is over rated, i wouldn't be half as far along if i had learned python instead of C++. C++ forced me to be a better as far as im concerned. if i had discovered Lua before C++ i would never have gotten into x86 like i have now.

I started programming one day and never stopped. I started with C++ on the internet tutorials until my father finally bought me a Java book to learn.

Examples with mild explaination.

But I LOVE languages with amazing documentation (PHP).

Started programming because it was required for my degree. I had done some programming with TruBASIC in high school, but I haven't ever really taken much of an interest in it until about a year ago.

Started with VB.NET, then started java, recently started messing with scripting languages. I have by no means come close to mastering any of them, but they are all fun nonetheless.

Besides, every 2bit getting into I.T. nowadays wants to be a "network admin". lol (which is what I originally was in school for). I figured I'd be different.

Your head was still spinning from the "Friends, Internet, Books... Not necessarily in that order." conundrum.
Completely understandable, and you are forgiven.
