Media server can't get through switch

Posted 20 February 2011 - 02:10 PM

Hey guys,

I just implemented a Cisco 24 port unmanaged managed switch. Currently I only have two machines on it. I can SSH, access HTTP server, on both machines. Though since I put it in my media server (Java PS3 Media server software) won't show up on my PS3 (worked perfectly fine before).

Any idea how I can fix this?

EDIT:
Sorry it is a managed switch

If your switch has a firewall maybe it's blocking the media server. If not Thankyou I can't help you I'm afraid.

I'm sorry I meant
if not then I can't help you I'm afraid.

DMZ your Media Server which will allow it to be outside the Fire wall of that of the Router & Switch or in your case just the Switch.

i have my Xbox 360 & PS3 and my Media Server out the DMZ give it faster Bandwidth but can be attacked easy then it would be if it was inside the Fire Wall.
