Dual Monitors Desktop backgrounds

Posted 24 February 2011 - 11:17 AM

Hey guys!
My question is this...
I am running windows 7, I have a Nvidia 460 GPU, it has 2 DVI monitor outs and a display out, I am currently running my machine with 2 ASUS 22" wide screen displays. and as far as the desktop goes I have some 1000+ pictures that it will display a new one every 15 min. normal Windows7 display properties.. attempted to attach a picture, but there seems to be an error

The point at this is i would like to know.. Is there a way that for display 2 can I mirror Image the desktop BACKGROUND.. I know I can rotate the display, flip the display, landscape or portrait... but that's just what the display is showing.. nothing to do with the desktop background image.

If anyone knows a way or even if it is possible to mirror the desktop backgrounds
please comment thanks! :)
/cheers

You have the same speakers I do =P.

But I'm a little confused on what you're asking. Do you want a mirror of the main display on your second monitor? or do you just want to extend your desktop to span both displays?

This is extended desktop display: Dual Monitor Display

no its not, its the same image.
if it were mirrored the ball in the lower right of the wall paper would be on the lower left of the right monitor
just a sec, I'll get a better image that people will see just what I mean

If you want it truely MIRRORED then you need a left and a right image and you need a utility such as DisplayFusion to let you put different images on each monitor.

If you look at this shot:
http://www.dreaminco...-desktop-shots/

You can see where I have 3 monitors each with a different wallpaper.
You would use 2 different wallpapers, one that you mirrored in advance with a graphic editing application like photoshop

Thank You!
I knew I wasn't the only one with multiple displays.

I was hoping that someone would share what they used.

Oh, that's hardly 'multiple'. That's only 3 for the RV computer setup.
For a normal household desktop I prefer 5 or 6. I just don't have that much room in the RV.

I was really hoping to get more of a response from people by asking this question. As I know there are LOTS of people out there that run multiple Displays. I have tried the Dual monitor wallpapers too.. they don't work, just cuts it off at the end of first monitor and starts all over on the second display.. same picture on different screens
I have looked at different display programs such as Display Fusion.

But if someone has a setup like this...
http://www.multi-scr...-Console-10.jpg

What would be the BEST multi-monitor display program??

I don't think anyone has a single PC system like that.
I'm reasonable certain it's not possible.
The video card with the most monitor ports I've ever seen was the ColorGraphic Xentra GT8. As the name implies it would handle 8 monitors to 1920x1200. I miss that card (that is no longer made)

I set up a PC one time that had 3 of these in it (for a customer) and really had a full 24 monitors working on it. But WindowsXP display control panel at the time would only see 16 even though they all worked. You had to use the ColorGraphic control software to set resolution and relative location.

And even for them 24 was the max you could run.

Also notice how in the control room photo you provided there are 4 keyboards visible. So I think there are AT LEAST 4 computers in use for these

Wall of 24 on the left w/2 keyboard so probably 12 monitors each on two EyeFinity 6 port cards.
Wall of 24 on the right w/2 keyboard so probably 12 monitors each on two EyeFinity 6 port cards.
6 large monitors on top of the back. Sounds like another EyeFinity 6 port card.
The remaining 28 on the back wall in some config determined by need.
3 on the center desk (captains chair position)

lol thanks for the break down of the random control room :P
your probably more than right, if someone had this set up in their basement or something they would probably walk around with foil cones on their heads or something.

you could also create one big image that is mirrored how you would like it and set it as the desktop background. This is easy in photoshop. As long as you match the image to the total resolution(of both monitors) and tile the picture, it will show the picture how you want it. << very easy to do. If you need more of an explanation let me know.
